The trick to this hydroponics system is be as inexpensive as possible. So I drilled holes in these $5 buckets.
Large Plastic Garbage Bin
This is your vat of water and nutrients. Connecting all of the buckets to this and each other to spread water to every bucket with plants.
Do This Several Times
Get 6 - 7 of these ventilated and add some holes in the bottom to attach some plumbing parts.
Attached Shut-Off Valve
Attached this shut-off valve because it is always good to have a way to stop the water if you need to work on it.
All Buckets Except 1 Have Tees
Connections with tees is the idea here. Add these plumbing parts to each except 1. This is where the hoses connect each bucket.
That One Bucket We Saved
The bucket we did not put a tee on the bottom of is going to have a Tee but we needed to separate it because it will have another connection as well. The single male connector piece is setup to where you want the water level to be. This bucket will house our flapper valve. (Flapper valve is just a toilet valve).
The whole idea here is to have everything connected in a loop. The garbage bin full of water hooks up to the male end of the first bucket. The flapper valve is set to the water level you want… you can either use stones or if you can find them cheap strainers (the ones for spaghetti) to take up some space. Connect each tee in a loop to the buckets and then plant the plants above the strainers or stone. The science here is the flapper valve doesn’t allow more water than what level you set it at. Gravity will try to fill up every bucket until they are the same water height, but the flapper stops this. When the plants drink the water the water level lowers and the flapper will open letting more in.
It is like 3D printing for wood! You have to check this out. This will probably be the coolest woodworking tool to add to my shed. Set this and let this go make the nicest cuts with small spaces. Check out the link for the video on it.
This could be yours. With a little effort and some time you should be able to build something like this. This book teaches you everything you need to know about aquaponics. I know when I tried to do my own I had no idea where to start.
Give this book a try and send me pictures of what you come up with!
My good gardening nerd friend has finally bitten the bullet and made her own FB page. She got bombarded with posts and messages on her personal account and figured it was time for an upgrade! While my focus is on DIY stuff including gardening, hers is definitely more gardening and recently she messaged me stating “I think I am a plant nerd” and “I may have a slight problem with plants.”
Give her a like and share on the page to keep the spirit of DIY going. The less we rely on large companies means the more power we take back. We should have a voice again and until we pull the money plug from these guys, it won’t happen.
As part of my homesteading and self sustainable dreams. I went to a plant swap this morning! I traded in some of my plants for the following, gloxinia, two white gingers, coffee cups ( species of elephant ear) konjalc, peace lily, angel teumpet, spider plant, fire spike, a lemon tree, okra, Thai basil, a orange tree, and a cute little house plant with a long name! Super fun! ❤️🌱 looking forward to all the adventures these bring me!

This is the material I ordered for the Master Fast I just did. Remember if you are new to fasting, ease yourself into it with 1-3 days at first… do not attempt longer without consulting a physician or have had 1 year of fasting experience.
Mix 32 ounces grape juice with 4 ounces lemon juice and 20-32 ounces of water. Do not chug, drink 1-2 of these over the course of the day. stop after 12 hours to do the dry fast phase during the night.
Mix 1/4 cup charcoal with 1/4 cup benonite clay and 1/2 cup psyllium. mix this together and store in a dry container. When ready to use, take 4 table spoons of the mix and combine it with 1-3 cups of the grape+lemon juice. Try to consume immediately. You can wait for it to congeal a little but I did not like the texture personally, I rather chug it and get it over with asap.
Let me know if you have any questions, I will either answer them or refer you to a place to get the answer.
I am not going to make any claims to medical advise, advocate the consumption or usage of this plant other than for research as a botanical specimen, I will say that there are some cool things being said about this plant. I urge everyone to do their own research on the plant themselves, especially the legal status for your country/state because while it may be said to be a great benefit to natural medicine… The FDA is dragging their feet with accepting that, actually they have tried to ban it countless times already. There have been news reports about kratom related deaths… I think I have counted 12 total in the past 4 years… then I either was unable to get a copy of the toxicology report, or the report showed a wide variety of chemical substances found in the deceased, but they only focused on the speciosa. So Please, before you do anything, judge, take, share, etc… do your own research on the matter, consider the source of the research (peer reviewed sources are generally a good place to start), and form your own opinion rather than the idiot mass point of view force fed by government officials who “know whats best for everyone”. Now on to my post. These pictures are not my own, the farmer I get all my specimen from took them for me and asked me to post them.
Kratom, born in the eastern world and has been used for centuries as a medicinal herb grows mainly in the jungles of Thailand/Indonesia/Southern Asia. The leaf is dried and either packaged up as a dried leaf or crushed into fine powder.
Now the articles and old herbal remedy books state the medicinal effect, even down to the different types or tree/leaf. These are noted as “strains” based on the vein color in the leaf and others make claims that different locations where the tree grows has an effect on the “herbal medicine” the plant may or may not provide.
The difference in these leaves from the same kind of tree is amazing. The alkaloids found in these (20+) different types are being studied even by pharmaceutical companies for their effectiveness. In fact, the most interesting thing I found in my research was the application for a patent on a few of the alkaloids in the leaf was dated just a few months prior to the initial attempt to ban the leaf in the US. If you are interested in my research on this, let me know and I will try and dredge up that patent again for you. Regardless of how you feel about the plant, I find it exciting that a relative to my favorite plant in the world “Coffea arabica” (where the coffee bean comes from) and has a few similar alkaloids. The plant is just a plant. It will not hurt you, only you can hurt yourself with it. I advocate the scientific exploration of this amazing specimen and hope we the people do not fall under to the whims of government and drug companies and their “nanny state” bullying and propaganda. Speak up for yourself! read up for yourself, if you question the source… try to discover who funded the article or research as that will lead you to see exactly what the agenda behind the article may impose in your life.
Have a great day, message me here if you’re interested in obtaining samples of this specimen or visit http://iwilljustdiy.com/?post_type=product Messaging me or commenting here is the better way at the moment as the website is still under construction (i work on it in between my 50+ hour a week job and spending time with the wife and dogs :))
